Late-season special events highlight the next several weekends at Lakeside Speedway with big shows on the slate for nearly every type of race fan. Those events start this Friday, September 5, with the annual Tom Karrick Memorial which now features a $3,000 payday for the A-Mod feature winner.
Lakeside Speedway wishes to thank Heather Melvin of Varsity Sports for coordinating this year’s Tom Karrick Memorial. Karrick lived from 1935 to 1994 and was posthumously inducted into the Central Auto Racing Boosters Hall of Fame & Museum in 2005 for his contribution to the betterment of racing in the Kansas City area. Karrick is the father of 2018 Hall of Fame inductee and currently active racer Tim Karrick of Basehor, Kansas.
The Karrick Memorial race features a $13,000 purse and pays $220 to start the "A" main with tow money at $75. There is an entry fee of $50 for A-Mod drivers who are registered with the track or $70 for non-registered drivers. The entry fee includes a pit pass for the driver. Full payout information is located at lakesidespeedway.net/downloads.
Joining the A-Mods on the card this Friday are Stock Cars, B-Mods, Pure Stocks, E-Mods and Grand Nationals. All classes will compete in preliminary heat races and main events as needed. The pits open at 5 p.m., spectator gates open at 6, the drivers meeting starts at 7 and hot laps begin at 7:15 with racing to follow.
